This is a separate beat from the key falling: THERE ARE TWO FALLS IN THIS FILM, his and then the key’s, and this is the first of them. MADE BY FLIPPING THE ASCENT, WHICH IS THE TRUTH RATHER THAN A SHORTCUT. Turn the rising frame over and everything that was physically right stays right, reversed: his head, which pointed up the shaft, now points down it, and his clothes and hair, which streamed DOWNWARD past him because the air was going the other way, now stream UPWARD, which is what a head first descent looks like. MIRRORED AS WELL AS FLIPPED, because a pure vertical flip leaves the spiral turning the same way on screen, and coming back down it should unwind what the climb wound up. Same boy, same cloud, same paper, same hand, nothing generated, so it reads as the same journey run backwards rather than a second drawing of a similar thing.
