EXT. THE HOUSE OF THE BODY — DAY

The front of a building where nothing is straight. Bone columns bowed narrow at the middle, a roofline of melted stone, windows set deep under heavy brows, one broad low opening with a curved sill, and a single heavy door at ground level.

THE BUILDING IS HIS BODY, and it reads as a face without being drawn as one: the windows are eyes, the balcony is a mouth. It replaced a factory, which said industry when the film needed living thing. The style is organic architecture in the manner of Gaudi, and it was got by describing the geometry rather than naming a building, which is the same law that made the organ walls work. MANAN IS KEYED INTO THE DOORWAY, never drawn.
